Don’t Run Away Words and Music by Doug Osborne that’s not the hot, that’s the cold, you clown you forgot to bring the laundry down how you ever gonna cross the street if they weren’t screwed on tight, you’d forget your feet you can walk away from your boring job keep your distance from an angry mob scream if a pigeon greets you from above but if you see love Don’t Run Away… you say you’re troubled, got to see a shrink see if he can resolve your fears, try to make you think shallow brooks babble loud with your neuroses, you’d stand out in any crowd you can have some fun thinking its a sin take a brand new thought, try to fit it in you can put your hand where its never been but when you feel love Don’t Run Away.. your anxiety will be the death of me I empathize with your entropy existential angst will never set you free Don’t Run Away… Copyright 2015 Douglas Ward Osborne

Love a Lover 03:01
Love A Lover Words and Music by Doug Osborne I can only love a lover not a liar or a loser, a cheater or a cruiser I can only love a lover You’re a painter ‘cause you have to show the world that you’re able to offer something better than legs like Betty Grable to you blue is pulling teeth, and red is cleaned up after you’re yellow when it comes to crying tears or shouting laughter I can only love a lover… I walk because I have to get from one place to another and is Miles Davis still a good friend of your older brother? Do you say that to impress me, or to make you more attractive? try to change the time we spent by making envy retroactive I can only love a lover… Copyright 2015 Douglas Ward Osborne

I’ve Never Known You Words and Music by Doug Osborne You may have thought that I’ve comprehended you in your duality It’s plain to see you may have thought that I’ve understood intensities of light from black to white no I’ve never known you I’ve never tasted the left and the right, the calm and the fright of you The you that I’m seeing is fond of being engaged in hiding your activities it’s plain to see what you’re doing is nothing you should hide from day to night from black to white no I’ve never known you… You may have thought that I’ve comprehended you in your duality but you see the only time I’ve seen you smile is once on a dark road, laughing to each other you wouldn’t let a brother any other offer you a ride no I’ve never known you… Copyright 2015 Douglas Ward Osborne

Take a Look 03:57
Take a Look - Words and Music by Doug Osborne You tell me you’re a hick from the sticks lying north of the town You needed a new young buck, with your luck I was all you found I don’t think you got the worst of the deal, in fact I think you got a real steal and I know for a minute or two I had your head spinning round And I’m standing up here naked as the day I was born Stripped bare of all the clothing I’ve worn Hey you know I’m an open book Come inside and Take a Look You tell me that your body’s aching and your head is a mess Where you been for the last eleven days your daddy couldn't guess Well I've been working real hard to save my pay, you’ve been spending all of yours every way Do you know how your hurting us both? Take some notes, ‘cause there’ll be a test And I’m standing up here… You caught me stumbling down Central Avenue I’ve been victimized by love, victimized by the stars above But mostly I've been victimized by you And I’m standing up here… © 2015 Douglas Osborne, All Rights Reserved

Emotional Bureaucracy Words and Music by Doug Osborne according to the laws of supply and demand, we have to pay for what we get what’s inside of me has been underemployed and lately it wants to expand well you’re placing a lien on my heart and sending it down to accounting since you can’t believe my feelings, they’ll tell you to what they’re amounting emotional bureaucracy is the game that’s between you and me emotional bureaucracy is all red tape as far as I can see can you see all the good in me through this emotional bureaucracy? you approached my approaching laissez faire when I tried to get past your aides you referred me to the vice president but he was gone for lunch in Park Square I’m citing you for violation of my codes but not breaking off negotiations I’m looking for the end of this episode tonight with anticipation emotional bureaucracy… I’ve been elected resurrected pro rated consecrated appointed annointed emotional bureaucracy… Copyright 2015 Douglas Ward Osborne

Quiet Street 04:15
quiet street - words and music by Douglas W. Osborne i live on a quiet street and the homes are built from microwaves and vinyl families are short and sweet, and divorce is the only thing that’s final my wife’s macrame holds a plant by the door dishes pile high by the day in the sink her night creams and avon in a box on the floor a collection of things her mother told her to think truth and feelings often hurt especially if they’re lying in the dirt Quiet Street my daughter’s boyfriend gave her a call i said she wasn’t here, she hadn’t gone too far she was thinking of a job at that place in the mall she couldn’t get there without borrowing the car my son’s been gone from us for over a year i told him boys didn’t do those things in this town the garage had been spray painted with the word queer i felt my life over, I felt I would drown truth… Quiet Street i sit by the steps in the back downing a beer while the sirens get close the neighbors paid me attention just once in my life when i was taking care of what bothered me the most janie’s underneath the roses on the left in the back susie’s by the swings where she played as a child i’m sitting with my empty here by the porch the spirit of little kenny, the night i got wild truth… Quiet Street c p 2014 Douglas W. Man of Steel 04:31
Man of Steel Words and Music by Doug Osborne Well I’m a mild mannered boy with x-ray specs I wanted to see right through your clothes my identity no one suspects my origin no one knows well I’m the hero here ‘cause I know it’s all illusion I can stop a speeding bullet I’ve come to that conclusion I also know for real even a Man of Steel couldn’t bring you back… I’m being measured so my flying suit will fit are these powers I’ve received just a crutch? your love I’ll never get my heart won’t know your touch well I’m the hero here… It takes a lot of heat to melt a heart of gold but all I get from you is cold well I’m the hero here… even a man of steel couldn’t bring you back... copyright 2015 Douglas Ward Osborne

Woodstock Generation Words and Music by Doug Osborne i came upon a child of god she was stumblin, mumblin something to me i asked her where she was going, this she told me i’m going down to max’s farm, i’ve come here in a fog cut me loose, got some dust from these dudes they’ve been here ten years to the day heard there was a concert - did the Doors really play? was this the one where he was rude? Is this the woodstock generation do we have pepsi on our breath is this the woodstock generation or have we caught our death by the time that we left woodstock we were half again as weak as the last time we could speak well this time it’s not a dream to see the bombers poised for their attack a cowboy’s murderous dreams on our back should I buy for you, i can see your frustration you wanna be like mom and dad before it’s too late drunk and dirty by the 2 it’s their life you hate but it’s hard, cut off from imagination © 2015 Douglas W Osborne
