Cambridge Nights - Words and Music by Douglas Osborne Davy’s never known and he doesn’t want to that he’s never had it bad like the ladies selling something so sweet He’s rarely tasted though more often he’d like to the good that he’s never had like the hot chocolate at the Cafe Pamplona Some of these Cambridge Nights could flash in his face could see his disgrace Even parking cars under downtown lights might not pull him up from this place Betty’s never done it though she says she knows how to She can drive a fellow mad with all of her daddy’s presents and her nose job Davy’s had it all before he says it’s all because he had to He says he’s really oh so sad… Some of these Cambridge Nights…

Love Trap 03:11
Love Trap - Words and Music by Douglas Osborne Photographic face on the right Geographic map in the light It looks like love is over Your face looks like a map It looks like love is over Your face looks like a map The Love Trap got a hold of my feet The Love Trap it must be beat The Love Trap I know what it needs The Love Trap I taste what it bleeds Tyrannical fire in the works Mechanical spasmodic jerks It looks like war is over I need a freezing snap It looks like war is over I need a freezing snap The Love Trap…

You let me fool a fool I thought you were to cool for that my dear You let me fool a fool I thought you were too cool for this my dear Oh Jeanette Why Jeanette? Ooh Ooh Jeanette Didn’t mean to drive you crazy Jeanette The taxi’s waiting and how you gonna pay the man? What do you think of my hair Jeanette? You Can Cry 04:42
You Can Cry - Words and Music Douglas Osborne Stranded on Jersey Street icebound with TV and stereo Georgia and Jenny so sweetly would tend to their needs so red and slow Call them and see if they have the time you know it’s worth your dime You Can Cry...on the telephone. Birthday in Kenmore Square stripped down to wine and pistachios Berta and MaryAnn were always talking about their boys down to the quick and the slow Call them and see if they have the time You know it’s worth your dime You Can Cry...on the telephone.
5.
Silence 05:18
The Silence - Words and Music by Douglas Osborne You wanna talk to me? You wanna talk with me? You wanna tell me? I wanna listen. You can talk to me. You can talk with me You can tell me That the car was green It left the scene The accident was unreported In The Silence You wanna ride to me. You wanna ride with me. You wanna ride me. I can’t listen. You can ride to me. You can ride with me. You can ride me. The hospital, you cried a bandaid for a suicide I babbled on In The Silence… The Silence just might work for us. Please don’t let it keep us apart. If you don’t find a place for me, the silence might turn out to be all that’s left in your heart.

Arrest My Heart - Words and Music by Douglas Osborne Walking down a narrow street hands tucked inside my pockets This isn’t your part of town Footsteps fall like rockets Spandex drops, the fugitive lets out a moan A smuggler caught at customs with cocaine cologne Arrest my Heart Lock it tight Arrest my Heart baby it’s alright Turn a key to a hotel door I wonder who’s been on my tail You say it’s not my normal way But methods, like feelings, often fail The bracelet stays, a little pleasure with your pain Relief is scheduled on the Munich train Arrest my heart...

Pasted on Pout - Words and Music by Douglas Osborne I saw you you were the one without a smile I saw you you looked past me by about a mile and I knew I wanted you I can see your pasted on pout and I know what it’s all about I heard you you sung the song I played before I heard you I understood from across the floor and I knew It couldn’t do I can see your pasted on pout and I know what it’s all about I loved you when I first saw you on the screen I loved you transmitted by machine and I knew I needed you I can see your pasted on pout and I know what it’s all about

about

“Ambitious Pop...” “Standout band…”-Bret Milano, Boston Globe

“...elusive talent of writing catchy pop without letting terminal blandness set in” -Carter Alan

“...skippy beat and an understated instrumental approach...captures your attention” -Rachel Michaud, Sweet Potato

Serious Fun is releasing its first new material since the release of the Boston Rock & Roll Anthology, Vol 4 on VAR International.

Following up on the success of Pasted on Pout and Arrest My Heart from that LP, the band has released newly remastered versions of the original mixes of Cambridge Nights, Arrest My Heart and Pasted On Pout as digital only singles. They are followed by this EP of previously unreleased mixes of seven high-energy songs.

With Doug Osborne on guitar and vocals, Stephen Wild on bass, and Liz DiSessa on drums, Serious Fun blazed a trail through the clubs of Boston such as The Paradise, The Rat, and Bunrattys. Their music was played on WBCN, WFNX and WERS, and was high on the CMJ charts.

They recorded the basic tracks for these songs at Baker Street Studios in Watertown with Andy Mendelson.
Doug Osborne is releasing these singles and the Serious Fun EP in time for his live solo dates in the Los Angeles area. Doug plans to tour to support the release next year of his solo album, tentatively titled Love Takes a Long Time.

The Serious Fun releases will fit on modern Rock radio formats with its unique blend of high energy music, blazing guitar, and heartfelt lyrics.
