about

This is the late ‘70s, before MTV, before day glo neon miniskirts and puffed up hair. But the sixties were over, and the earth color Eagles loving ‘70s were waning in fashion circles. Disco was shaping entertainment, and even punk was coloring things, as long as your color was black.

The girls with too much lipstick and too much attitude and too much of daddy’s money were beyond me. No big deal, but they threw their gaze until they thought they knew me. This is me throwing it right back.

It’s got its own danceable beat, repeating riffs, mournful doubled vocals, blazing rock guitar solo, and a dissonant ending that leaves you needing more.

lyrics

Pasted on Pout - Words and Music by Douglas Osborne

I saw you
you were the one without a smile
I saw you
you looked past me by about a mile
and I knew I wanted you

I can see your pasted on pout
and I know what it’s all about

I heard you
you sung the song I played before
I heard you
I understood from across the floor
and I knew It couldn’t do

I can see your pasted on pout
and I know what it’s all about

I loved you
when I first saw you on the screen
I loved you
transmitted by machine
and I knew I needed you

I can see your pasted on pout
and I know what it’s all about
